Beckham Aftershave-maker Was Never Paid.... The man who created David Beckham's aftershave claims he has never been paid for the scent that has made the star more than $39 million (£20 million).

Arthur Burnham did the deal with Beckham's former management company Sfx. The soccer star switched to 19 Management before the deal was sealed and 19 tried to abandon the aftershave idea. When cosmetic giant Coty, who were onboard to market the scent, refused to back down, 19 - owned by American Idol boss Simon Fuller - refused to pay Burnham.

The 51-year-old perfumier says, "I met David in 2002 and he personally approved the fragrance. He was the nicest guy you could ever wish to meet - so friendly and straightforward.

"I brought Coty (cosmetic giant) in to market the product and I created the scent, with David's approval.

"It was literally days away from being signed and sealed. Contracts were in the process of being signed.

"I truly believe that David would be outraged if he found out I have never been paid. Unless I judged him completely wrongly, I think he would pay me himself."

A spokesperson for Beckham 31, says, "19 have never spoken to this man in relation to setting up a deal with Coty. He has no claim to any money."
