The pandemic has made the first ever digital London Fashion Week tricky. The schedule isn't as full as normal, and the surprising fact it's in June – breaking away from the usual February and September dates – means designers haven't had much time to pull together new collections.
Instead, brands are looking for new ways to get involved in LFW. Toni & Guy is celebrating 15 years at fashion week, and has put together a virtual presentation shining the spotlight on its biggest catwalk looks.
Toni & Guy has been responsible for some seriously major hairstyles, and these are some of our favourites from over the years…
Bora Aksu is known for his romantic and whimsical style, and for AW10 Toni & Guy created the perfect hairstyle to match. Models had loose braids through their hair, often culminating in a low, wispy plait.
In stark contrast to Bora Aksu's light, loose vibe is Todd Lynn's AW11 show. A slicked back, wet style is always a winner on the catwalk, and for this show the look was given an edge with a tight, thin plait going down the middle.
What to do if you want to mix up the classic look of sleek, straight hair? Take inspiration from Jean-Pierre Braganza's AW13 show, where models had Cher-worthy hair – with the surprise addition of a small bun at the very back of their heads.
This sleek updo was given an edge with light tendrils hanging out the sides – a look that's easy enough to recreate at home. Just add some stand-out black lipstick and you're basically Kendall Jenner.
House of Holland's brand has always been about fun, party girls who don't take themselves too seriously. This is reflected in the styling of the shows. Take SS17, where models had artfully loose and messy hair – as though they'd just got out of bed, but in a chic way.
Toni & Guy regularly collaborates with eclectic designer Pam Hogg, and the stylists certainly have their work cut out. While most designers tend to pick one or two unifying hair looks for all the models, Hogg's models have all different hairdos, each wackier than the last. Our favourite from the most recent show was the aggressively tall and primped beehive – like Amy Winehouse meets the Bride of Frankenstein.
