I first came across Footner when videos started appearing on my Facebook timeline of beautiful women pulling skin from their feet and shedding like snakes over their duvets and floors. As I am a little bit gross and enjoy watching stuff like this (I love a good pimple popping video)- I was intrigued and I knew I had to try it for myself.
All you have to do to start the process is cut the top of the Foonter socks off (clearly marked) and slide your feet inside for an hour. If you are prepared to sit still for the hour, then you can let it do its thing. But if you are anything like me and like to multitask- I would suggest pulling some old socks over the top, as they are quite loose fitting, so you can still go about your business. Just make sure you set a timer so you don’t get distracted and forget to take them off.
I expected to feel something while they were working but, they just felt wet, nothing more. I washed them off after the hour with the shower head and that was it- all I had left to do was wait.
On day one, my toes just looked wrinkly- like my nana’s foot and the skin felt tight when I wiggled my toes.
Day two and three was more of the same- a tightness, but no peeling and maybe a little scratchiness against my bedsheets at night.
I started to get a little despondent and even Googled ‘Footner not working’ because I wanted to see if there were others who’d had no results after three days. As it turned out there were- many people wrote of nothing happening until 4 or more days in, so I told myself not to be so impatient.
By that afternoon after going out for the day and putting it to the back of my mind- I looked down at my feet while I was watching the TV and the first sign had appeared. I had a white patch that had come away on my heel. I couldn’t resist- and I started to peel it. Good things really do come to those who wait.
That was the beginning of the next six days of peeling, picking, itching and more hoovering than I’ve done in my lifetime.
You need to be prepared for your feet and your home to look a little grotty for a few days so I would suggest not inviting anyone over as they might be put off my bits of skin all over your floors and the flakiness of your feet.
I found the peeling process very satisfying indeed- my partner- not so much. I’m surprised he’s still with me to be honest as it’s not sexy in the slightest to look over and see your partner peel away layers of their skin with such commitment and enjoyment.
On day ten, my feet are looking baby soft as the package promises. I have to admit that it wasn’t as effective on the really hard skin on the bottom of my feet. I still had to wear this down with a foot file, but I’m wearing flip flops with zero shame about my cracked heels (because I no longer have any) and taking more pride in keeping my feet in tip top condition for summer.
Although it’s a bit pricey (about £20), now I know it works I would happily buy this product again when the times comes.
If you take great pleasure if peeling away your old sunburn when it starts to flake away and get itchy, this is the product for you!
