We are getting closer and closer to the Christmas countdown so now is the time to clear the way for a more minimalist Christmastime. This month, you can start with the following:

Minimalism on Female First

Minimalism on Female First

Eyewear and products: This might include old glasses, out of date contact solution and lenses, glasses cleaning wipes or old sunglasses that you no longer wear or are broken.

Bad role models: If you follow people on Instagram who made you feel bad about yourself or are friends with someone on Facebook who brings you mood down every time they post something- it’s time for a social media cleanse. Only follow people who are healthy role models for the life you want to lead.

Products for teeth: If you have a crusty old toothbrush that’s been hanging around at the back of the cupboard- throw it away and treat yourself to a new one. Or maybe you have some ancient mouthwash, old floss or even a shrivelled up toothpaste tube. If any of these sound familiar- get rid and just buy as you need so the same doesn’t happen again.

Fridge: It’s time to make way for all the food that will be piling up in your fridge next month. Any food that has started to go bad, needs to be binned and any food that you know you won’t eat but is still good can be given to a family of friend. Or if you have a pet like a rabbit- you may like to donate the fresh stuff to them.

Recycling: Perhaps you recycled your smaller items every day, but if you have anything larger that has been lurking in your hallway or in your garage or attic for a few weeks- now is the time to take it to the dump. This might include textiles, used oil or spare pieces of wood from a DIY project. Whatever these items are- clear them out before December hits.

Aprons and tea towels: Take a look in your textile drawer in the kitchen. Do you need all the towels, aprons and cloths you currently own? If not- reduce the pile to only as many as you need and discard the rest.

Meat: November is World Vegan Month so you might like to give yourself a challenge to declutter meat from your life if you currently eat a lot of it. It doesn’t have to be a permanent change- but see how you go for just a month.

Jars: Think jars of jam, marmalade, paste, sauce- anything that has been opened and not used should really be cleaned out and recycled. Check the warnings on the labels that will advise if the product needs to be used within a certain amount of time once the seal is broken.

Hair products: Do you have an excess of bobbles? Or so many bobby pins- if you laid them flat, they would circle the earth? If this sounds like you- take note of your hair supplies and remove anything that you don’t use. This could even mean equipment like straighteners, curlers or hair dryers if you have duplicates of these items.

Happy November everyone!
