Technology tops the list of home comforts in a new survey, and whilst the TV remains the number one priority, wi-fi and the ipad has also joined it.
A survey of 1,000 adults by East Coast trains has revealed that the popular tablet computer and internet technology now sit alongside slippers, TV and a comfy chair.
When asked what they need to feel truly at home, 71% of Brits said TV remained their number one priority.
However, the list was a combination of traditional comforts, such as slippers and dressing gowns, and modern benefits such as an iPad, Wi-Fi and a coffee machine.
Wi-Fi and tablets such as iPads have become ‘must-haves’ in British society, with more than 73% of homes in the UK having Wi-Fi and 24% owning at least one tablet.
East Coast Head of Marketing Natalie Cowen said: “It’s a real testament to the on-the-go nature of society that items such as Wi-Fi and an iPad are in our top 10 home comforts. Luckily, the very nature of these items means we can feel at home anywhere in the world.”
The Top 10:
- TV
- Cosy bed
- Comfy chair
- iPad
- Slippers
- W-Fi
- A good book
- Dressing gown
- Favourite mug
- Coffee machine
Meanwhile, one in 20 people surveyed said they only truly felt at home when in a onesie whilst other items listed by Brits include a cupboard full of food, Facebook and an iPod or MP3 player.
Some 97% of Brits said they like to have their home comforts around them at all times, while seven in 10 people said they felt lost without them.
A further 88% said they felt more settled and relaxed when travelling if they had one or more of their home comforts, leading to 72% taking their favourite items with them when going away.
