As we get near to the end of the month- it may seem harder to find things to purge your space of- but there’s always something. Here are our suggestions for this week:
Garden rubbish: As the weather begins to turn- your garden- if you have one- will become littered with leaves. It may seem like a small thing to get rid of- but it will make a huge difference to the look of your outdoor space.
Rice and dried goods in your kitchen: People often think that they last forever- but they don’t- so check your pasta, rice, noodles, macaroni, spaghetti and lasagne sheets for best before dates and if you have too much of something that is going out soon- consider donating it to a food bank or giving it away to someone who will use it up in time.
Old ear products: This may seem like a random choice- but look in your cabinets for old ear wax removal treatments if this is something you have suffered from in the past or solutions to clean your piercings. Check their dates and make sure that they are all still in usable condition. If you have more cotton buds than you can shake a stick at- consider giving them away to family and friends and clear out some room.
Active wear: Perhaps you own something that is past its best and needs to be replaced. Or maybe you have a load of activewear for a hobby you promised you would take up but never did. If you only go swimming once a week- do you really need 10 bathing suits? Likely not- consider how often you use the active wear you have.
Anything that’s aged beyond repair: If something is in such a bad way that mending it is no longer an option- take it to the dump where it can be properly recycled and focus on taking good care of the things that are left in your home.
Fireplace detritus: The fireplace can be a dumping ground for mail, but also a place where lots of ornaments and clocks gather for a party. If you don’t like any of these items of décor- its time to clear the space, leaving only a few items remaining or be totally radical and remove it all.
Wild animal products: If you have bags and bags of bird seed or hedgehog food- the animals need it now more than ever so start putting it out if you have not done this consistently during the summer months. It will create space wherever you keep it but also help them to bulk up for the winter months.
