We've all have those days at work where nothing seems to be going right. Your computer keeps freezing, you spilled coffee on your blouse, and you completely forgot to prepare for that important meeting that's coming up in five minutes. When that happens, you're probably as far from a mindful state of being as you can possibly be.

And then there are the days where you have all the time in the world to get work done, but you keep you don't seem to get anything done (busy fool as my brother would say. In either of the situations I just mentioned, there's a distinct lack of mindfulness going on in your day.

Whether you're a 9-5er, business owner, blogger, or student, we often don't think about being mindful at our desks, even though we spend the majority of our time working there.

Luckily, there are a few simple tools you can use to turn your desk into a zen space and help keep your mind a little more blissful! Here are 7 of my favorite products that I use to stay mindful during the workday:

Essential Oils

One of the ways I stay focused and present at work is to have different essential oils going through a diffuser like this one at my desk. Essential oils have so many benefits depending on the kind that you use, and they're perfect for keeping you grounded and promoting a positive mindset during the day.

Not sure which essential oils to try? If you need to calm down, try lavender or chamomile. If you need to concentrate and focus, rosemary or eucalyptus will help. And if you need a creative boost, one of my absolute favorite essential oils is Rosemary.

Planner

I love using my planner every single day, and it's keeping me 98% sane right now (I'm not sure I'll ever really be 100% sane). Even though I'm the kind of person who likes to plan everything out and my planner is defiantly my BFF lately.

I'm obsessed with my Refresh Weekly Planner because it splits each day up into appointments and to-do items, plus every week gives you a section to write happy things like what you're grateful for. My advice is to find a planner that helps you stay sane throughout the day and keeps the level of overwhelm down to a minimum.

Tea

I'm a tea addict, through and through. I have a gigantic box at my desk filled with a variety of teas, as well as three different mugs, which I'm pretty sure is totally unnecessary.

If you're starting to get stressed out at work, try brewing a cup of Honey Lavender Stress Relief or Chamomile with Lavender instead of grabbing another coffee.

Meditation App

When work starts to get overwhelming and frustrating, try a quick meditation. All it really takes is 5-10 minutes to get your stress levels down, clear your head, and get you in a more mindful state for the rest of the day.

If you can, try meditating outside so you can get a healthy dose of fresh air that you probably don't get within your office space. If not, just find an empty room or even the restroom if your options are limited. Taking the time to give yourself a little mental break is such an important habit to keep.

Pencils

All you need and deserve is a little serenity now and again, don't we?! These pencils are absolutely perfect for your desk or work space. Because really, what better way to calm your mind and find a little peace while working, then with these positive words inscribed on them.

These pencils can be used in a variety of ways. You can draw with them, especially handy when doodling during those boring meetings. You can use them to write notes, proposals, and fill in your time-off requests. And you can definitely use them as an additional reminder to breathe.

Bonsai Tree

The bonsai tree roots from the Japanese term meaning, "planted in a container." But the actual art form comes from a Chinese practice that was later adopted by Japanese Zen Buddhists. The bonsai tree is a miniature tree that has been potted. The purpose of the bonsai when it was first produced, as an art form, was meant for contemplation.

It is also meant for the grower to learn patience, effort, and to promote peace while watching the plant slowly take form. This tree is perfect for your desk, office space, and even a shaded window seal. The bonsai can also give you a sense of nature while working inside. One look at it, and you can't help but feel calm.

Inspirational Poster

I can't think of one person who doesn't enjoy a good inspirational quote, poem, lyric, or written message. In fact, I think the reason why many people are attracted to the written word is because we need the daily reminder. We want to be reminded to be a kind person, to dream and work towards our deepest dreams and aspirations, or to just not give up. Zen posters with inspirational messages are absolutely perfect to place in your office or work space. Not only will they give you a little bit of zen inspiration, but they look damn good on your walls. There are plenty of affordable prints on Etsy to choose from. So, what are you waiting for? Decorate those white walls, people!
