If you want to buy someone special a gift that means they aren’t saddled with something for years to come- consumables are a great option. The person will get some immediate or short-term pleasure from the present- but ultimately it doesn’t stick around. Here are some ideas:
Flowers or plants: At this time of year a poinsettia is an ideal festive option however there is always a Christmassy bouquet of flowers or plant if you know the recipient already has a poinsettia in their home or would prefer something different. These bouquets from Interflora are a beautiful centrepiece for any room...
A hamper: If you know the person well enough to get them a selection of their favourite consumables- this looks beautiful when gifted in a box or basket. The person may even have a use for the container too.
A recipe box gift card: If the person you are buying for loves to cook- this could encourage them to make something they’ve never tried before. They might like to use it for a date night at home with their partner or to make a hearty meal for their family with. Plus, it gets delivered to their home so there is no fuss on their part.
Coffee/tea/hot chocolate: Why not get someone an upgrade on their usual choice of drink? There are some beautifully presented, high quality hot drinks around at Christmastime so you will be able to find something that they’ve not come across before. If the person you are buying for doesn’t like any of the above, a glass bottle filled with cordial could be another option.
A box of chocolates: Again, brands go all out to make their chocolates as eye catching as possible at this time of year so a well-presented box of their favourite sweet treats might be the way to their heart. Or you could gift them something new that they have never bought for themselves before. If you are buying for someone who has more of a savoury tooth- some nuts, special edition crisps or savoury popcorn might be a better choice.
Home cooked or baked goods: If you enjoy spending time in the kitchen why not make your presents? A batch of mince pies are the perfect Christmas treat or some festive cookies or a Christmas cake might hit the spot. Gifts such as this are always the meaningful because they have taken the most time and effort to create.
Alcohol: Most people have a preferred tipple and if they enjoy it on a regular basis you know it will get used. Gin is a popular drink right now- which could be coupled with some good quality tonic, but you could opt for wine, beer, whiskey, rum or tequila- simply tailor it to the person. Or if you want to gift a bottle of something non-alcoholic there are plenty of options for the teetotallers too.
