Drinking glass: This became a trendy way to consume your drinks last year and it seems to have stuck around, paving the way for jars with handles and a means of showcasing environmentally friendly metal straws. A summer barbecue wouldn’t be complete without one of these in the hands of all your guests. You could even drink your daily smoothie from one to make it Instagram worthy!

Storage: These handy jars are perfect for storing bathroom supplies like cotton buds or balls, small DIY items such as nails and screws, crafting supplies like buttons and jewels, food stuffs like lentils or rice or even to house sweets or savoury snacks. They have a place in every room of your home to keep smaller items grouped together and you can see them at a glance thanks to the clear glass so you always know where everything is. Did you know they are the perfect size for housing paper cake cases?

Food: The humble mason jar can be used for single serve meals such as a stacked salad for lunchtime, overnight oats for breakfast or even as a place to pop your leftovers to enjoy later after making your evening meal.  Plus, the great thing about these jars is that they are freezer and fridge safe as well as microwave safe (not the lid) so you can cool or warm your foodie creations as you see fit. You can also chuck them in the dishwasher between uses to keep the glass looking shiny and new.

Canning: If you are someone who is into making jams and pickling foods, Mason Jars are the perfect size of housing a similar amount to what you would buy in the supermarket. They also make for attractive gifts if you want to share your spoils- just be sure to ask for it back for next year!

Holder: With the top off a mason jar can hold many things such as flowers, plants, tea lights, pencils and pens, paintbrushes, make-up brushes, knitting needles, straws, cutlery and toothbrushes. Just be sure to keep the lid for when you decide to use it for a different purpose in its next life!

Projects: If you are a creative person, Mason jars are an ideal canvas for any craft projects you might have in mind. For instance, you can fill it with bird seed, screw on the lid, attach a perch and hang it outside for your birds to feast on. If you enjoy making candles, you can use this as the holder for your wax. Cut a long, thin hole in the top and you’ve got yourself a money box, take the lid off and wind some wire around the top, pop a candle inside and you have a lantern for your garden. Whatever your passion, there is a Mason jar that will accommodate your needs!

Festive decor: If you want to incorporate Mason jars into your Christmas decor this year, there are so many different things you can do. Fill a few with Christmas candy such as candy canes or foil wrapped chocolate and create your very own little sweet shop. Pop a colourful Christmassy scented candle inside, wrap some string around the edge and attach a small christmas ornament to it. Make a snow globe by glueing an appropriate ornament to the inside of the lid, filling it with water and glitter and turning it upside down. Pop some cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and cranberries to make your own festive air freshener or simply fill one with some battery powered lights. There are so many ideas online if you want to DIY your Christmas ornaments this year.

So there we have it, just a few ways you can go minimalist with a Mason Jar!
