Your jewellery box is only small but there may still things lurking in there that you no longer have any use for. Here are a few items you can let go of today.

Unwanted gifts

Unwanted gifts

Anything that is broken- If you haven’t got it fixed by now- it clearly doesn’t mean enough to you to spend the time and money to ensure it stays in good condition. You could sell it for its weight value or give it to someone who is willing to put in the time to return it to its former glory.

Anything you no longer wear- If there are pieces in the box that you haven’t worn in months, if not years- it’s time to donate them to someone who will get joy from showing them off.

Family pieces- If you feel obliged to keep something because it’s been in the family for years- but will never use it- you could give it to someone else in the family who will treasure this piece by wearing it often. Anything that special deserves to be worn with pride not hidden away in a box.

Anything expensive that’s not your style- If you paid a lot for a piece of jewellery and the only reason you are hanging onto it is because of the money you invested in it- it’s time to sell it on. Make something back for it so you can put the money towards something you really want or to save for a rainy day.

Fashion statement pieces- Perhaps you went through a phase of wearing bulky earrings or chunky bracelets because they were in fashion at the time- but now you don’t wear them because they’ve fallen out of favour with the fashionistas. If so, purge anything that you bought because they were in style and ask yourself what you like most when it comes to jewellery. Perhaps you don’t like to wear it all that much- in which case only keep a few key pieces. You don’t have to go with what’s in vogue if it’s not you.

Unsuitable gifts- If you have been gifted jewellery over the years that you have never worn or never will- now is the best time to part with it. If the gifter has never seen you wear the piece, they will have already come to the conclusion that it’s not for you so you won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

Anything that no longer fits you- Perhaps you have a ring that is too small now or a bracelet that’s too big and keeps falling off your wrist. If you do- give these items to someone who will wear them comfortably rather than them being an uncomfortable distraction for you.
