- I am on a tight budget but want to find some furniture and kitchen appliances for my apartment in South London that still looks good but wont break the bank. Where do you recommend looking, I don’t mind a bit of shabby chic? Best, Ruth Drysdale.
Dear Ruth, Go and look in your local British Heart Foundation home stores. They have over 160 dedicated Furniture & Electrical Stores, which are home to hundreds of lovely things including sofas priced from £85, beds from £40 and washing machines from £50.
You can also find a local upholsterer to recover any fabric you may not think works for you reasonably cheaply so don’t be put off by a strong colour you wouldn’t normally go for. look at the shape of the furniture. Take a look at the BHF website for your nearest store, its amazing what you can pick up!
- Celia, Ive got a small bathroom in my house that I don’t like it as its dingy with no window or natural light. How can I make it look nicer, bigger, and brighter, ive tried painting the walls white but it looks awful?
Have you tried mirrors on the walls? When fitting out small spaces I often recommend mirrored walls which will give you the impression of more light and space.
If you can, get a local glass manufacturer in to measure and price up cladding the whole wall on one side of the room, where possible, as this will give your bathroom a completely new look bright look!
- Where can I get some nice designer bar stools. I hate the ones in the shops or on line, and like fabric ones much more?
