Are you facing a interior design dilemma? then worry no longer as Celia Sawyer is on hand with some expert advice.
- Dear Celia Sawyer, Please can you help me with my dining room chairs, I have 2 very messy 9 and 12 year olds and I have quite a nice contemporary room with smart upholstered chairs, however I’m worried they’ll get ruined by the kids. I don’t want to cover them each time they eat, but am paranoid. My table is long and seats 8, what can I do about their chairs?
Hi, I suggest you buy yourself 2 Ghost chairs, one for each child and put them at either end of the table, as these are Perspex, easy to wipe down, not expensive and look contemporary and will really work with any colour scheme.
- I really like nice hallways but mine is a long narrow one. How can I make it look smart and elegant without furniture (it’s so narrow!)
Use it as an art gallery. You can pick up some interesting black and white prints and get them framed to run along the walls in this area.
You could also use a couple of large mirrors on one wall to sit side by side which will add interest and glamour to the area if its not wide enough for a console table.
- Hi Celia , I’ve got some really nice tall vases that you cant see through and would like to buy some really good fake flowers to put in them, but I don’t know where to find realistic ones that aren’t really really silly prices, can you tell me please? Stephanie.
Hi Stephanie, Go to Dunhelm Mill (you can look on line) as they have great long stemmed roses, around £1.99 per stem and they look really good.
You can also look in Homesense as they tend to have bouts of great faux flowers, they are a little more expensive but not silly prices and they also look really convincing.
