Grubby toilets may be commonplace in bachelor pads around the UK, as a new survey from an online bathroom retailer in the UK has revealed that the average male singleton in the UK cleans his toilet just once every six months.

The study, conducted by www.UKBathrooms.com, also found that men onlu clean their shower every 7.8 months, whilst women do it every 1.3 months.

But it's not just how often that shows difference between the sexes, the products used also differ. Only 32% of men own a specialist bathroom cleaning spray.

It may be shocking to know that 19% have cleaned their bathroom with washing up liquid.

Peter Gregg, Director of UKBathrooms.com, had the following to say about the results: “The sexes have so much that separates them when it comes to habits and traits, and it seems that bathroom cleaning is another one to add to the list! We wanted to know how single men and women go about attacking the grime in their bathroom, and to find that single men have such a lax approach to bathroom cleanliness was quite surprising. It seems that stereotype may well have it bang on the money- bachelors around the UK are a grubby bunch in the bathroom stakes; perhaps some rubber gloves and bathroom cleaner would be the best gift this Christmas!”

A dirty bathroom though is a big turn-off for 67% of respondents, so it's definitely time to get cleaning. Or, as in 64% of men's instances get their mother or sister to do the cleaning for them.
