This Christmas you can decorate your home without worrying about unsightly nails and hooks ruining the festive look. Hazel’s tips for creating a decorative Christmas fireplace
If you always arrange your Christmas cards the same way along your mantelpiece each year, why not try something completely different and make a real feature of them on the wall above the fireplace?
There are so many beautiful Christmas designs you could take inspiration from, but a Star is particularly pretty and looks great made out of brightly coloured cards.
All you need for this is your Christmas cards, some pretty Christmas ribbon, 3M Command Mini Hooks and a little Scotch double sided tape.
Start by working out where on the wall you need to position your hooks to safely hold your ribbon in place, these will be at the six points of the star. Attach the three lowest hooks of the Star upside down, then loop two separate pieces of ribbon around all the hooks in two star shapes, pulling it so it is taut and tying the ends together in a small bow.
To hold the cards in place on the diagonal ribbons mount them using some Scotch double sided tape. Place the tape inside each card so it is hidden from view.
The Star can be made by eye or carefully measured so it looks even. Whatever method you choose – if you place one of the hooks in the wrong place you can easily remove it and place it in the correct position with a new tab, without marking the wall.
