Zoe Ball from the radio and Strictly fame decided to do things totally out of her comfort zone for two days powered by almonds. The purpose? To show women how just a handful of almonds is all the snacking you need to get you through a busy day. And of all the busy mums out there- Zoe certainly has a lot on her plate so she is the perfect guinea pig to find out if almonds work in terms of taste and sustenance.
73% of women neglect their health if they have a busy life- however by buying a big pack of almonds and dividing them into little snack size portions you won't feel the need to grab the nearest sugary snack temptation.
Those who have a busy schedule not only reach for the wrong things when they feel like a snack but also skip meals too- Zoe tells us how she has gained control of her hunger;
"My job is a demanding one and I am often rushing around from the radio station to a meeting or filming. I find that I burn huge amounts of energy and that makes me very hungry. There are always treats and snacks around on set and although I don't deny myself the odd treat, I do need to make sure that I am well prepared and keep myself satisfied with something tasty and nutritious to stop me from gorging all day long! A daily handful of almonds really helps to keep me satisfied."
For California Almonds- Zoe abseils down a 40 foot building, speeds along the Thames in a boat and tries out some Parkour stunts.
Zoe is pushing herself to the limits in a new video with California only with almonds inside her.
The video may have exaggerate what is expected of working mums on daily basis- however any busy day can have its negative effects on snacking. 71% of women will likely snack while preparing foods, travelling, and looking after their kids. They may also snack without really taking note of the calories or really what they are eating.
And why almonds? Well, they have lots of fiber, are tasty and convenient because they can fit into small spaces- like tins or Tupperware tubs for on the go snacking. A recent study has found that introducing these in your diet does not affect your overall daily intake of calories or make them gain any body weight.
Dietitian Lucy Jones recommends incorporating a handful* of almonds as a daily snack, suggesting that the Snack Happy Challenge is a great way to get into the habit of doing so: "As a powerhouse of nutrients, almonds don't just rate highly on the taste buds. With a handful* containing 15 essential nutrients, including fibre, these little nuts are perfect to fight those hunger pangs. The Snack Happy Challenge is easy: snack on a handful of almonds each day, for 21 days and feel the difference it makes. 21 days is the length of time it takes to form a new habit, so before too long you'll find yourself able to conquer those 'Snack-Amnesiac' impulses."
