Do you feel like you could be exercising that little bit more, but worry you're lacking the right tools or motivation to get there? Don't panic! It could be as simple as downloading a free app onto your tablet, or streaming a tutorial on YouTube.
New research from Lenovo* has revealed that around 6 in 10 UK adults already incorporate some kind of app or gadget into their exercise regime, and over half of them say it makes them exercise more! With so many tech-savvy fitness fans out there, we've compiled a list of top tech tips to get the most out of your workouts. Just call us your personal Mr Motivator…
- Don't let the great British weather put you off - 64% of us wish we exercised more during the colder months, and there are plenty of fun, free workouts to trial online from your own home simply by using a tablet or laptop. From yoga to HIIT (high-intensity interval training) sessions there is something for everyone. Take a look on YouTube and search for videos from your favourite fitness gurus and on the latest dance crazes, and get inspired!
- Every little helps - only 15% of us are using apps to help track our daily incidental exercise and kilojoule intake. This can really help you to make informed decisions about your diet and exercise regime, as well as seeing what you're achieving without even thinking about it!
- Find a Personal Trainer who can fit into your schedule - if you're keen to hire a PT, do your research and make sure they're happy to bring tech into your regime. If you can't make a session, your PT can create a session for you to complete in your living room, garden or office over Skype!
- Mix up your location - if you feel your motivation slipping, why not change your environment? The great thing about portable tech is that you can pretty much work out anywhere! The Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 even comes with a hang device so you don't have to hold it or find somewhere to set it down whilst you're working out.
- Plan ahead to get ahead - if music helps to push you during your workout, plan your playlist before you set off for the gym or the park. Trying to match the tempo of you tracks to your running pace is a great way of keeping your speed up, or choosing the songs that get you dancing on a night out can really help get you through. Some music streaming apps, such as Spotify, can actually find your tempo and play music to match it!
