Keep your chest supported when you workout

If you're working out and exercise a sports bra is an essential for any woman, as it's National Fitness Day we thought when better to share these essential tips. 

Research from Shock Absorber shows that a third of women said they are deterring from exercise because of their breasts and the discomfort they cause during physical activity.  

So now there's no excuse not to exercise. 

So, Dr Joanna Scurr, an expert in breast health at the University of Portsmouth shares her top tips for buying a sports bra. 

Five top tips for a perfectly fitted sports bra

1)    You need a firmly fixed underband, there should a maximum 2 inches pull back in between the band and the back. Another trick is to jump around and see where it sits, it should be level all the way around

2)    For the perfect cup there should be no bulging, gaping or wrinkling of the material

3)    Adjust shoulder straps so they feel secure, with no more than 2 inches pull back

4)    Check that the front part of the sports bra sits flat on the sternum, if it lifts that is an indication the cup size is too small

5)    Any underwiring should rest on the rib cage and not the breast tissue
