Kale is a must-have food to include in your diet

Fed up of trying to eat healthily and forever feeling hungry? Fitness guru, ‘The Colonel’ at Xercise4Less has just launched a book all about getting you ‘In Shape 4 Summer’, inside it- The Colonel and Carly Tierney, a BSN athlete and physique expert, predict ‘superfoods’ are going to be the food of the season over the summer months.

Trying to eat healthily but feel like you’re starving yourself in the process? You’re probably eating the wrong foods, too infrequently.

Ready-made ‘healthy snacks’ such as low calorie cereal bars and crisps which appear to be good for you- are usually laced with sugar and salt to make up for containing little calories, so they actually taste of something.

This summer, it’s all about ‘superfoods’ to keep you going.

Popular with celebs such as Beyonce who recently publicly turned vegan, is one of many jumping on the superfoods band wagon.

It’s not about turning vegan, but many high protein foods make up a vegan diet as a meat replacement.

Try eating kale- a vegetable that was widely unheard of until last year, and it’s already becoming much more widely available because of it. Kale is a cabbage like vegetable, packed full of goodness including vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin A and lots of antioxidants. It’s also full of fibre- a macronutrient which means we need to eat it every day, as well as 2 grams of protein per serving, it’s even been labeled the new beef because of its high protein source. Eat kale as part of a healthy diet, ditching those shop bought ‘healthy snacks’ and switching them to chicken, nuts and yoghurt. These foods will keep you feeling fuller for longer and will keep your cravings for something sweet at bay. High protein superfoods are the food of summer 2014!
