Healthy eating and regular exercise are usually the components for weight loss, but new research shows that our smartphones could also be playing a part?
As many as one third of Britons are now turning to their Smartphones when dieting in a bid to help them reach their weight goals and ‘beat the bulge’, according to a new study by mobilephonechecker.co.uk.
39% of those questioned admitted that they relied heavily on dieting and weight loss phone and tablet apps in order to make informed decisions about their food choices, as well as to stay on track with weight loss goals.
But the best news is that 81% of these had do far seen more successul weight loss results through using dieting apps than they did before using them.
Adam Cable, Director of mobilephonechecker.co.uk, said the following on the results of the study: “I think it is an absolutely fantastic sign that so many people are using their mobile phones to help aid them with weight loss, and seeing effective results from it.
"It must be hard to try and stick to a diet or low calorie menu when on the go or out at a restaurant, so being able to track food intake in situations like this on a mobile device must be a god send to some.”
The top reasons for using dieting apps included:
1. Easier to track calories and food intake at the push of a button
2. Can check calorie content of items before deciding to eat them
3. Helpful for planning healthy and nutritious meals in advance
4. Helps keep me motivated
5. Cheaper and easier alternative to diet books and magazines
