Peter Andre has joined forces with the world’s leading cancer charity Cancer Research UK to launch the Peter Andre Foundation, after losing his brother Andrew to the disease late last year.
The Foundation will raise vital funds to support Cancer Research UK’s ‘Cancer Awareness Roadshow’ which will bring important cancer information to people in their own communities.
Early diagnosis of cancer saves lives, so if people spot cancer early, before it’s had time to spread or grow too big, it’s nearly always easier to treat successfully.
The Peter Andre Foundation will encourage people to get checked by their doctor if they’re worried about any changes to their body, with the message ‘know your body, know what’s right for you’.
Peter Andre said: “Unfortunately I know how devastating cancer can be. I lost my brother Andrew to cancer last year and to see someone you love go through this awful disease is just heartbreaking. One in three of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives. But diagnosing and treating cancer at an earlier stage is one of the most promising areas that could improve cancer survival in the UK.
“So I’ve set up the Peter Andre Foundation to spread the word that people need to know and understand their own bodies. I want to encourage people to go their doctors and get checked if they see or feel anything that’s unusual for them. Thousands of people beat cancer every year and I want to do everything I can to help Cancer Research UK save more lives in the future.”
Every step Cancer Research UK makes towards beating cancer relies on every pound and every person. As a collective force, the charity has helped double cancer survival rates in the UK in the last 40 years. That’s why the Peter Andre Foundation has chosen to work with Cancer Research UK to support its pioneering, life saving work. The charity’s research is entirely funded by the public.
