A sore throat can strike for an average of 3 days at a time, according to new research, but we of course don’t want it to ruin our Christmas time.
Here we have some tips on how to battle your sore throat.
A study of 2,000 Brits, commissioned by Ultra Chloraseptic throat spray, revels that three quarters of people have just put up with a sore throat because they thought nothing else would help.
ENT and spokesperson for Ultra Chloraseptic throat spray, Andrew McCombe, gives his top tips to help avoid catching a sore throat over the festive season:
Try to avoid very crowded places and people who obviously have an cold/cough
Try to get as much fresh air as possible such as sleeping with an open window and not cranking up the central heating too much
Eat a good diet with plenty of fresh fruit (vitamin C) and get plenty of sleep!
Drinking too much can make snoring worse and both can cause acid reflux which will give you a sore throat
Simple pain killers and helpful symptomatic treatment such as salt water gargles, throat lozenges and/or throat sprays can help to relieve the pain
