2015 is now well under way, and already health resolutions all over the country have been broken as people dip into the leftover Christmas chocolates and hit the snooze button instead of heading to the gym.
If there’s one health resolution you should keep in 2015 though, it’s to take care of your hearing health.
Recent research undertaken by experts at Hidden Hearing indicates that there are up to 4 million people in the UK living with an undiagnosed hearing problem. While partial hearing loss may not seem serious to some, it’s a problem that can cause a great deal of inconvenience in the long run – not to mention the social stigma, depression and paranoia that can occur as a result of poor hearing.
Hearing specialists around the country report a peak in the number of hearing tests they carry out in January. Many people – particularly those who are not in regular contact with friends and family – will notice a change in their hearing for the first time over Christmas, as they struggle to hear relatives over the hubbub of the dinner table. And while many will act on the realisation, it’s estimated that up to 60% of these people will ignore the changes in their hearing for several more months or years.
In order to encourage more people to pay closer attention to their hearing health in 2015, Hidden Hearing has designed the Hearing House – a fun and simple game designed to help identify the early signs of hearing loss by testing players’ ability to identify a series of day-to-day sounds.
You can take a look around the Hearing House here, and don’t forget to share it on Facebook and Twitter so your friends and family can try it too.
