Two new exciting exercise classes, Piloxing and Belrobics, have been launched this week as part of Bury Council’s ‘I Will If You Will’ movement designed to help women and girls get active.
Piloxing is a blend of Pilates and Boxing, cleverly combined for a low impact but high intensity workout. Belrobics is a fun, energetic mix of Belly Dancing and Aerobics, offering an alternative to traditional aerobic routines.
After a successful trial period, the exercise classes are now a part of the ‘I Will if You Will’ activity programme which as well as Piloxing and Belrobics offers everything from netball, jogging and rounders to swimming and outdoor gyms.
The extensive activity programme has been introduced to encourage women and girls in and around the area to be more active and get involved in sports and fitness in a fun and engaging way. Piloxing and Belrobics classes are currently being held at a number of locations across Bury, Prestwich and Ramsbottom and are suitable for all levels, including beginners.
Julie Porter, I Will If You Will studio co-ordinator, said: “We now have six fully trained Belrobics instructors across the borough and they are ready and raring to go to teach local women and girls how to shimmy. All the classes are designed to build confidence and improve fitness; we want women to feel as comfortable as possible while having a blast with their friends.
“We have lots more planned for I Will If You Will over the next few months. I’d like to encourage Bury ladies to join in and visit the website to keep posted on activities, new classes and events.”
I Will If You Will has also introduced ‘Fitness Parties’, giving local women and girls a chance to try a mix of the best activities on offer - all at the same time. The Fitness Parties include 20 minute sessions of Piloxing, Belrobics, Zumba, Pilates, Metafit and even Burlesque, to give ladies a real opportunity to find a fun exercise that works for them.
