Eye health conditions amongst young people are on the up, as a new report shows show thirds of Optometrists reported an increase in the number of younger patients presenting symptoms of eye conditions.
What’s more, 94% agree that as a nation, we are not looking after our eyes as much as we should be.
The 2020 Vision of Britain Report showed the majority of the Optometrists surveyed say that they are concerned generally about the eye health of the patients they are seeing, with two thirds of Optometrists saying they have noticed an increase in younger people suffering from eye conditions such as Dry Eye and Blepharitis.
Spectrum Thea, a leading ophthalmic company, launched the report which also examines the impact of modern society on the health of our eyes; it’s not just old age but pollution, poor diet, smoking, increased use of screens and computer based devices.
