Victoria Beckham swears by acai to keep her youthful

The power of the Beckhams has been proven again, as sales of Acai Berry diet capsuled shoot up by 25% after Victoria Beckham tweets about her love of the super food.

Brands hailed the 'Victoria effect' after the star spoke of being 'obsessed with acai berries' which are renowned for aiding weight loss.

Sales of Forza Supplements' Acai Berry 2.2.1 supplement have shot up by 25% in the last month following the fashionista's tweet.

Beckham wrote on Twitter:  "Obsessed with Acai berries! Native Brazilian super food x vb"

The acai berry is a rich purple palm fruit indigenous to the Amazon rainforest. For hundreds of years, these small dark berries have been integral to the diet of native Amazon people.

The berries are packed with amino acids, as well as vitamins A, B, C and E and minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc.

The fruit perishes quickly after being picked, so to help preserve its goodness it is often made into acai berry juice, supplements or powder, which is often whizzed into a smoothie.

Forza managing director Lee Smith said: "We are already calling it 'the Victoria effect.' She tweets and other women listen.

"Fact is, Victoria is a style icon to many women and they all want to know how she stays in such incredible shape.

"Women love to know the secret tricks which work for celebrities. It's great that Victoria has given such a public insight into how she stays so thin."

There are lots of ways you can eat Acai Berries with some, like Victoria Beckham, eating them in pulp form.

A popular way celebrities take them is in powder former.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr said: "I sprinkle it on my porridge, gluten-free cereal or smoothie."

And Oprah Winfrey recognised the Acai Berry on her show by including it in a list of her top 10 superfoods.

Mother-of-four Beckham, who turned 40 in April, has spoken about her love of another health food supplement - bee panacea.

Bee panacea combines all the components of bee products, including raw honey, pollen, propolis and royal jelly.
