Who would want the shame or being publicly warned of taking too many bites?

Confessing to what we've eaten each day can sometimes be an embarrassing thing, on occasion we like to indulge and we usually find that we are lying to ourselves as well as others about the number of calories we have consumed.

Not any more, thanks to technology.

In an age were we find ourselves nervous if we're parted too far from our smartphone, would come out in cold sweats if the internet were ever to fail us and can't go for a walk without an iPod - it's no wonder that this device has been created and will most likely find a way onto all of our wrists in the near future. So long as it has a sleek design anyway.

The new technology keeps track of exactly how many bites you take every day, with a warning when you have one too many.

The Bite Counter is designed to be used anywhere from home, to work to a restuarant - where you're more likely to fall of the diet-wagon.

"The device only requires the user press a button to turn it on before eating and press the button on again after the meal or snack is done," Professor Adam Hoover, who created the weight-watching device tells Metro.

"In between, the device automatically counts how many bits have been eaten."

It's reportedly 90 per cent accurate in counting bits, regardless of the user, food, utensil or the container the food is put it.

But, what's to stop you from leaving the device 'off' whilst you raid the fridge around 8pm?
