Can working out as a couple help you both?

Can working out as a couple help you both?

Has your relationship turned into a slob-fest? Do you need to reawaken your energy levels and get moving? Working out together can be encouraging and fun.

Here we have some tips to help you prepare to work out together, not only will you spur each other on but there may be some friendly competition which will only push you further.

Will you be working out with your other half anytime soon?

1. Register for a race together, you might be surprised how much fun you have training together, preparing for the challenge, comparing mileage personal bests, sharing each other’s nervous / excited emotions and ultimately crossing the finish line together. Keep a shared training diary and agree on a training plan. Supporting each other through the blisters and miles may well lead to a marathon of a relationship! (Or a marathon marriage)

2. Modern day busy life styles mean we rarely have enough time for ourselves let alone our relationships. Invest some quality time in training at the same time. Make you and your partner's fitness a joint priority, neither your relationship nor your health should suffer from the busy demands of life.

3. Working out together has so many benefits. You not only get to spend time together, you both can work towards a common goal and share the endorphin rush. There are other benefits related to improved fitness such as increased energy, increased sex drive, improved self-esteem and of course mutual appreciation of a more toned and lean physique.

4. Enjoy some quality sweat time together at home during the winter months. Invest in some home fitness equipment like; stationary bikes, rower or a cross trainer, all of which allows for various speeds, resistances and grades to suit you and your partners fitness levels. So you can both cycle or jog next to each other, chat about the day and increase your fitness levels along the way.
