The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) has launched a free Health and Fitness app, enabling users to engage with their Personal Trainer between sessions, as well as monitor and track their daily fitness and dietary records.
With over 29,000 Fitness Instructors from across the UK listed on the Register to date, including Personal Trainers and Yoga Teachers, the app’s unique interactive functionality is a great way for users to receive realistic, measureable, industry approved goals from their REPs Registered personal trainer. This will allow members of the public to safely stay on track with their fitness programme between sessions.
Jean Ann Marnoch, Registrar at REPs, who has over 30 years experience in the fitness industry, says: “Our all new app is a great tool for the public and the REPs trainers, allowing individuals to gain invaluable motivation and advice between face to face sessions.”
“We know that 35% of Fitness Instructors in the UK are not REPs registered, meaning that their qualifications are questionable, so it’s crucial that people maintain regular contact with their REPs trainer to reduce risk of injury. At REPs, we turn away around 5% of applications a year from ‘instructors’ who don’t meet the required standards – a clear indicator that there are some rogue trainers out there!”
The REPs Fitness app includes an exercise log, run tracker and timeline, which accurately records training activity (such as gym programmes or outdoor exercises e.g. running, cycling, walking) as well as a dietary log allowing users to monitor their progress against their end goals.
By allowing users to connect to their Personal Trainer, this app provides that extra boost of motivation needed to maintain both fitness and dietary goals.
REPs Registered Instructors/Trainers have the ability to send their clients tailored and bespoke exercise programmes, share messages and keep up to date with their progress by viewing each individuals training activity and food diaries. By separating goal setting into long and short-term sections, trainers are able to send targeted daily, weekly and monthly communications to their clients.
The REPs iPhone app is free to download from the iTunes store or via the REPs website.
