The nation is looking to the items they have in their very own back garden as a more cost effective soloution to keep them fit and healthy

These are things that can be at home, in the local gym or sports centre in your area. Here's brief details about each, tell us which one you think you'll be trying out.

Junkyard Workout

Since the recession people have had a lot less money to spend on what can sometimes be seen as an expensive luxury, like gym memberships or personal trainers. That's what this workout is all about, using everyday items that can be found in the back garden, like sandbags or wheelbarrows, to create a unique fitness programme. Changing weights and what ways you will be using them, means that you get a full body workout, working all your core muscles and building up your heart rate.

Jon Denoris says: “This takes influence from the tactics adopted in the strongman training schedules. The nation is looking to the items they have in their very own back garden as a more cost effective solution to keep them fit and healthy.”

Freedom Climber

If rock climbing is something that you enjoy, this is certainly the workout for you. Jon Denoris says: “Circular climbing walls are functional, fun and different. They challenge the mind and body appealing to people on a different level.” The new piece of equipment is set to be installed in gyms all over the country. They take up less space and have a lot less risk compared to conventional climbing walls, so if you want to climb the way to a fitter you, this is certainly the way to do it.

Yoga Hybrids

Whether your a novice or an expert in yoga combining it with strength training techniques and the best bits of graceful movement creates a new dynamic fitness skill. Research conducted in the US by Fast Company indicates that the money spent on yoga since 2004 has increased by a staggering 87 per cent. Jon Denoris says: “Combing the use of resistance bands and weight to assist clients in 'powering' out of the warrior poses, combing kettleballs or dumbells to add a strength challenge to various yoga postures.”

Technology

Changes in technology have proved most effective for the way that we work up a sweat, we can see how much fat we've burnt, the calories we have lost or the rate of our heartbeat. Having this gives us the satisfaction that we have made a difference in our body and we know what we have lost. Things like iPhone apps, lifestyle management tools and pedometers all enable this and have become an essential part of everybody's gym kit.

Jon Denoris says: “You can be training in the US and your trainer in the UK can monitor the miles, calories burnt, and heart rate to give you the guidance and advice you need. It enables people to challenge and compete against each other without even being on the same continent. Technology gives you the freedom to train, compete and reach your goals anywhere in the world.”

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Make like Jackie Chan and get involved in one of the most popular combat sports. Jon Denoris says: “We will see a rise in specific circuit training and conditioning next year. Whilst boxing continues to under deliver with peoples current demand from exercise and fitness, MMA will offer more excitement – it's the new rock and roll.”

Work off the bottles of mulled wine you've consumed over the festive period and take out some anger by combing a mixture of martial arts and a variety of fighting techniques in your local class.
