The healthy gut

The healthy gut

When it comes to our diets many of us are all too aware of the need for a better balance of food types and perhaps a little less caffeine and alcohol.  But this can be even more present a thought if you suffer from a sensitive gut or frequent diarrhoea.

Our bowel health is dependent on what and how we eat. Everyone’s digestive system is different, meaning that diarrhoea and stomach upsets can be triggered by a wide range of foods.

Rich and spicy foods are particularly well known for causing digestive distress which can be really unpleasant and disrupt our daily lives; however what many of us don’t realize, is that despite their known health benefits, some people are sensitive to popular cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.

The Life in Rhythm plan, which has been developed by leading experts on behalf of Imodium, shows how those with a sensitive gut don’t have to miss out on their favourite foods and recipes. With a few small changes to the ingredients in recipes, it is still possible to enjoy those much loved meals without upsetting the rhythm of your tummy.

Watch the video below with Leading Nutritionist Amanda Hamilton, which explains all we need to know about a healthy gut and gives us some alternatives to those foods which could lead to a stomach upset.
