Help could be on hand to assist the relief of a debilitating health condition which causes extreme fatigue, a long term sufferer claims.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), a condition which causes severe tiredness that doesn’t improve after rest, currently affects around 250,000 people in the UK, including active stars like Rebecca Adlington and Darcey Bussell.

But Jane Greenwood, aged 48 from the West Midlands, says magnesium oil is her chief ingredient for managing the condition’s debilitating symptoms.

Jane said: “As of this summer I finally consider myself recovered from the hell I’ve been through over the last five years.

“It started in 2007. I’d had problems recovering from a virus, which might have been due to persistent health problems and stress prior to the illness. After several months of feeling awful I had all kinds of tests to eliminate other possible causes, before finally being diagnosed with CFS.

“At its worst, I hardly left the house for two years. I could barely walk, if I had to go to the local shop for food I would not be able to unpack the shopping until I had rested for several hours. Sometimes I could not even lift a carrier bag. I lay in bed for as long as 22 hours a day.

“At my wits end, I scoured the internet and support groups to find ways of managing my symptoms. Through reading about wheat free diets I came across some information on Magnesium Oil. Although I eat a lot of nuts and seeds, I decided that increasing my intake would be beneficial, especially as magnesium deficiency is linked to fatigue and I read we can absorb more through the skin, than through oral supplementation.”

Magnesium deficiency is known to exacerbate all the symptoms of CFS. Carolyn Dean, author of The Magnesium Miracle, claims that a sufferer can diminish his or her symptoms by 50 per cent by taking the right amount of magnesium.

Magnesium supplementation should be the cornerstone of therapy, as the mineral has the ability to increase the body’s production of DHEA, a hormone which has beneficial effects on memory, stress, sleep and depression.

A clinical trial by Cardiff University showed how well magnesium is absorbed through the skin, feeding every cell. Watkins & Josling showed the dramatic increase in magnesium levels that can be achieved with Magnesium Oil compared to oral supplements.

“I have noticed a dramatic difference since using the magnesium oil. Though I was already on my way to recovering from CFS, I couldn’t get back to feeling completely better and had a lot of body pain and stiffness, especially round my neck and shoulders. The magnesium takes the pain away and also makes me feel very calm and relaxed.

“I sleep well anyway, but my sleep is now even deeper and I wake up refreshed instead of groggy. I have been able to focus on detailed jobs more easily, finishing fiddly parts of my house decoration that I had put off for two years.

“I am smiling much more, finding all kinds of things funny. I am relaxed and enjoy my friends company more. I feel stronger, I have more sustained energy throughout the day. As if all this wasn't good enough, I now find that it is clearing up persistent skin problems that nothing else has fixed.

“CFS has a link to problems in the gut and intestines so I think I have not been absorbing nutrients properly for some time. And being a vegetarian for 32 years meant vitamin B12 deficiency could be a factor – another problem which can cause extreme fatigue. So I also use BetterYou’s Boost B12 oral spray along with DLux3000 vitamin D oral spray to help boost my immune system, especially as we have had little sunshine this year.

“I have used very high quality B12, Vit D and magnesium in the form of oral supplements before and not felt any changes. But in the three months that I have been using these products I have felt a significant increase in function and my sense of wellbeing.

“CFS is a complex issue and I think the recovery comes in stages. I don't think there is one fast 'cure' but many steps and stages; each one needs to be built upon. It is important to address the emotional and mental aspects of the condition as it is the physical. Do not take on too many ideas or techniques all at once; give things three months and if there are no improvements, move on.

“Many people recover from this condition and can lead active lives again. At present I feel the best I have felt in 10 years. I hope my story brings encouragement and hope,” said Jane.
