Olympic athlete Paula Radcliffe has joined forces with Tesco and Cancer Research UK to star in a new advert encouraging one million women to take part in this year’s Race for Life.
The national television advertising campaign, also starring Fay Ripley and Mark Addy, marks a decade of support for Tesco & Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.
Lucy Neville-Rolfe, Executive Director, Corporate and Legal Affairs from Tesco, said:
"Tesco is proud to have sponsored Race for Life for ten years. An incredible 5.4 million women have taken part in Race for Life to date, helping many to recover from cancer as a result of the £362 million we have raised together for Cancer Research UK.
"This year, by working in partnership with Cancer Research UK, we’re aiming to reach more women than ever before. We hope the advert will help us to recruit a million women and raise £80 million to fund life saving work."
Paula Radcliffe added: "It’s fantastic to be a part of such a great event - I’ve been supporting Tesco and Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for many years and I’d love to see us reach our ambitious goal of recruiting one million women.
"It’s such an inspiration to see so many women take part to support such a vital cause."
Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series where women walk, jog or run 5k.
Tesco hopes that more than 20,000 staff will be among the women taking part in one of over 300 events this summer around the UK.
