New online tests launched

NHS Choices has launched two new interactive self assessment tools which assess both women’s fertility, and general fitness.

Based on NHS accredited information, the tests enable women, who are worried they may be having problems getting pregnant, to assess their situation, and allow individuals to check their current activity levels to see if they could improve their fitness.

All it requires is accessing the NHS Choices website and answering a set of questions. Fertility test questions include, ‘have you ever had an ectopic pregnancy?’ and ‘do you have a regular period?’ while the fitness test asks questions such as, ‘how do you feel after climbing stairs?’ and ‘which activities could you do easily?’

At the end of the fertility test, information is given on what could be causing a woman’s fertility problems, including a variety of links to related issues.

The fitness test concludes with advice on maintaining a fit and active lifestyle with links to real-life features, clinically-approved information and simple fitness ideas.

The NHS Choices website was launched in 2007 to initially help patients choose where they want to be treated when they need non-emergency surgery.

NHS experts say that key benefits of the fitness test are that it provides everyone with age-specific advice; offers tips for those who struggle to find the time to exercise; provides reliable information from fitness experts, and encourages all to embark on a healthy routine.
