Can you picture this at home?

Men are more keen than women to hire a domestic cleaner to help keep their homes in pristine condition.

The survey asked 1,800 new clients who have signed up in the past year at London's domestic cleaning service, Homeclean and they found that 54 per cent are now men and 46 per cent are women.

But surely this means that men are no more cleaner than women, it's just that they don't fancy doing the housework themselves.

Homeclean believes that there has been a significant change in men's attitudes to keeping their homes clean. Most professional men now want to come home to a clean house after a busy day at the office.

Teresa Godbold, manager of Homeclean says: "Men are just as likely ro call us as women even if they are married or in a relationship.

"The only significant difference between the two sexes is their attitude towards the cleaner. Men are very straight-forward, they call us to get a cleaner into their homes and they do not particulary care to know any details about them."

Whereas women like to interview the cleaner and instruct on how best to clean their homes; well, I'm sure they just want to make sure that it's done right.

It also seems that women have no issue lying to their partners about the cleaning too. Teresa explains how one women rang up a cleaner and told her to get out of the house immediately, take all of her stuff and leave as quickly as possible. When the client was asked why she had done this, she explained that her husband was on his way home and he believed that she was the one doing the house work.

Would you ever lie to your partner about house cleaning?
