Pucker up and reap the benefits from a kiss

It's International Kissing Day and to celebrate we have decided to share with you some of the health benefits of puckering up your lips.

Kissing isn't just for fun you know.

Kissing actually triggers a whole spectrum of physiological processes that boost your immunity and generally spruce up that body you work so hard to keep attractive.

Kissing Burns Calories
We're told completely different numbers all of the time, so just estimate that it's between two and six a minute. It may not be the same as a Zumba class or a run in the park, but it's something.

Kissing Boosts Immunity
Anytime you lock lips, you're not just swapping spit, you're also swapping germs. A majority of the bacteria in your saliva is common to everyone, but around 20 percent are unique to the individual. So, the process of kissing triggers your body to produce antibodies to fight the foreign bacteria. It's like a vaccination, minus the hour in the waiting room and sore arm.

Kissings Keeps Facial Muscles Strong
Kissing uses 30 facial muscles and it helps to keep them tight, which prevents baggy cheeks. The tension in the muscles caused by a passionate kiss helps smooth the skin and increases the circulation.

Kissing Relieves Stress
Passionate kissing relieves tension, reduces negative energy and produces a sense of well being, lowering your cortisol ‘stress’ hormone.

Kissing Boosts Self-Esteem
Kissing causes individuals to feel more loved and more appreciated. In general, having a higher self-esteem makes you healthier. Those who fight depression or have low self-esteem tend to also fight off more sickness because their bodies lack the endorphins and natural antibiotics to fight disease.

Kissing is Great for the Heart
Kissing is an adrenaline producing activity. Adrenaline causes the heart to get pumping and increase blood circulation. The effects kissing has on your heart is essentially very similar to getting your heart going by aerobic exercise like running or bicycling.
