The British Heart Foundation has released a new campaign featuring footballer, turned actor, Vinnie Jones, in a bid to encourage people to perform hands-only CPR to a person in cardiac arrest.
Rather than standing by, being afraid to perform any sort of medical care on somebody who's collapsed, the foundation are urging people to forget mouth-to-mouth and perform hands-only CPR, along to the beat of well known Bee Gee's hit Stayin' Alive, after dialling 999.
A poll conducted across the UK which involved 2,000 people discovered nearly half wouldn't attempt CPR due to lack of knowledge.
The television ad features Vinnie, playing the character of a mob gangster, giving an unconcious man chest compressions, with 2 other "gangsters" stood behind him bopping to the beat of Stayin' Alive.
The British Heart Foundation say the beat of the song is the correct beat to follow when giving somebody chest copressions. By doing this whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive, it is possible to keep somebody alive.
The humorous advert is sure to raise people's awareness of the campaign.
