Eating too quickly is something that we all do, we live such bust lives that we barely have time to remember all the things we need to do today, never mind sit down and enjoy a meal.
New research has found that people in Britain spend only a total of 39 minutes per day eating their meals.
Which is shocking when you consider that we should spend at least 20 minutes eating each meal, as that's how long it takes for our brains to register that it's full.
The study showed that it takes us seven minutes to eat breakfast, 13 minutes for lunch and dinner takes us only 19 minutes.
"We now live in a very food-orientated society, where food documentaries, celebrity chefs and cook books have never been more prolific. However, our study shows Britons are not taking the time to properly enjoy their meals," says psychologist Dr Richard Woolfson, from President cheese who carried out the research.
Three-quarters of people who responded to the poll admitted that they eat so quickly that they do not enjoy or appreciate their meals.
Dr Woolfson continues: "It is so important to take the time to taste and appreciate food, as this has an effect on our emotional and physical wellbeing and can affect our productivity."
