We can now rejoice, it's the research that we've been hoping and praying would soon be proved, that eating chocolate regularly actually makes you thinner.
The US study found that people who ate chocolate a few times a week or more weighed less than those who rarely indulged.
The study, involving 1,00 people, found that even though chocolate is high in calories it contains calories which could help burn fat.
However, researchers said that the findings, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, don't prove that adding a bar of chocolate to your daily diet will help you to shed the pounds.
"People have just assumed that because it comes with calories and it's typically eaten as a sweet therefore it would inherently have been one way, bad," explains Beatrice Golomb who led the study at the University of California San Diego.
"I was pretty happy with this news myself. Findings show the composition of calories, not just the number of them, matters for determining ultimate weight."
