Gut Week is upon us so we thought we'd provide you with some information that we should all know, and will most likely use in the future.
Diarrhoea is uncomfortable and unpleasant, nobody likes to be in that situation.
So, with the help of Imodium, we've got a list of Do's and Dont's that you should follow to help keep your gut happy.
DO Reduce your stress levels - try to relax by learning to breathe deeply and slowly to calm yourself. If you are worried about something talk to someone who can help you
DO Take a break - especially when you start feeling frazzled to avoid panic and stress
DO Walk it off - physical activity works off the biochemical and physical changes that stress causes in your body
DO Have fun - laughter is a great stress reducer and boosts the immune system, which is often weakened by stress
DON'T Worry unnecessarily - Diarrhoea can be treated using an anti-diarrhoea medicine containing loperamide. They work by slowing down you digestive system, allowing your body to absorb more fluid from the bowel and relieve the symptoms - allowing you to get on with your day
DON'T Consume lots of alchol - Diarrhoea causes the body to lose fluids. Drink plenty of water or diluted fruit juice but stay away from alcohol and milk, which could further irritate your gut
DON'T Comfort eat on stodgy, fattening foods - try eating fresh fruit, vegetables and oat based snacks that will aid digestion
