Which? Is launching an online guide to cosmetic surgery, after their research revealed 5 million Britons are considering going under the knife to look better.
The tummy tuck is the most sought after by procedure by women, while men want a face or neck lift.
Their survey also found that 1.6 million people want their partner to consider surgery. Men are most likely to want their partner to have breast surgery while women want their partners to have a tummy tuck to get rid of beer bellies.
Less than a quarter of the people who had or were considering having surgery felt they were well informed.
Which? Health campaigner Michelle Smyth said: It seems many people are considering a cosmetic change in the future, and perhaps not just for themselves.
Weve set up an easy-to-understand, one-stop-shop for anyone considering cosmetic treatments. But we also want to hear from people willing to share their experience. Leave us your story at www.which.co.uk/cosmetic.
The site will tell people what to look for in surgeons and clics and advise people on what to do if something has gone wrong.
More and more britains are traveling abroad for cosmetic surgery. About 60 million per year is spent on the operations and post-op care according to market analysts Mintel.
Operations abroad cost less so people are traveling to Brazil, South Africa and Malaysia for the surgery. India is one of the most popular countries, its medical tourism is worth £1.2 billion by 2012.
Which? Health campaigner Frances Blunden said: "Cutting costs before surgery may not be the right way forward, especially if something goes wrong."
