Hannah is getting ready for the upcoming Olympics

After her spectacular performance at the British Olympic trials, Hannah Miley the Garioch swimmer is now being touted as the next Rebecca Adlington.

Hannah is now undoubtedly one of Britain’s best gold medals prospects in the pool at London 2012 as the reigning European and Commonwealth Champion and world number one in the 400m individual medley. In 2011 she claimed silver at the World Championships in Shanghai and at the 2008 Olympics she finished 6th in the event. However, four years on, Hannah is after a medal and she’s hopeful in front of a home crowd in London it will be gold.

While the 22-year-old is an integral part of the British Swimming team she is actually trained by her father Patrick and chooses to stay up in Aberdeen as opposed to training at one of the National Performance Centres like the rest of the British Swimming team.

Hannah has had to overcome numerous issues to continue training in Scotland, not least the weather which, in winter, often closes the pool she trains at because of a lack of heating and the fact that staff are unable to get to it. It’s meant she has at times missed valuable training time, but she’s confident it won’t hinder her chances in London in July, as her efforts last week proved.

Hannah’s family has played a huge part in her success, especially her father who is actually a full time helicopter pilot who dedicates every spare minute he has to coaching his daughter. He has coached Hannah throughout her career from young girl to Olympic athlete and she credits him as her biggest inspiration - giving her the skills and work ethic that have made her a swimming superstar.

Here in the video Hannah and her father Patrick reveal their plans for the future and give an insight into her gruelling  training regime.
