Fish oils help to make a healthier you

A staggering 80 per cent of Brits are not reaching their recommended levels of oily fish which is crucial for healthy bones, joints, heart and skin.

This leaves 95 per cent of the population deficient in polyunsaturated fatty acids - which is the healthy fat, that we're persuaded to eat.

Almost half of Brits admit to eating fish just once a month despite nearly 70 per cent of people admitting that they know it's good for them.

GP Dr Mary Selby says: "We know taht oily fish and Omega 3 fatty acids are beenficial for health, but many people simply do not like fish or feel it is difficult to prepare.

"If someone takes a fish oil supplement it can be a positive step, both in improving their wellbeing and in taking responsibility for their own health. It feels good to make an effort around your health."

The nationwide poll by supplement provider Bioglan found that almost a quarter of Brits rarely eat fish because they are put off by the smell and taste.

The Food Standards Agency recommend consuming fish at least twice a week because our bodies are not able to produce Omega 3 - even a supplement will help us to gaun these essential dietary needs.

Gary Snook, general manager of Bioglan says: "The Bioglan marketing team noticed that consumers were put off by a fishy aftertaste so we developed an innovative, enteric coated Super Fish Oil that releases essential Omega 3 in the intestine rather than the stomach."
