Kelly lost an amazing 18lbs in seven days

No you didn't read it incorrectly, Kelly Page Brown lost 18 pounds in 7 days at the British-run Obsidian Retreat in Alicante.

Now the weight loss is amazing in itself but what makes it even more amazing is that Kelly didn’t take part in any activities during the week.
  
So why did she achieve such amazing weightloss?
 
The fact she went from acid to alkaline accounts for quite a bit of it, but also by not exercising she also allowedmuscle loss as well. You would be led to believe that muscle loss is not good, but many obese people have too much muscle as well as fat and to start withneed to lose weight from all over the body.  
 
We still encourage exercise, but it is for additional reasons as well as weight loss.
Firstly, it is good for the mind as well as the body and helps us to feel happier.
Secondly, exercise strengthen our muscles they do burn calories quicker and also muscle looks much better on us than fat, helping us to tone up. Finally exercise is also great for our health, working all the organs and helping us to shift toxins from the body.  
 
What this does show though is that you haven't got to attend a boot camp and be shouted at to lose weight and that it is the change of diet from acid to alkaline that has the biggest effect on your results.
 
The average weight loss of clients at the retreat is 1.1 pounds a day. But we often see people lose more that a stone in a week.  
 
This normally leads to a number of questions:
1) How come you can lose so much weight?
2) Is it healthy to lose that much weight?
3) Am I only losing water and muscle mass?
 
1) The reason people lose so much weight whilst staying at the retreat is due to the cleansing (alkalising) of the body.  Our weight loss defies the normal maths of weight loss. Normally you require a deficit of 1100 calories a day (7700 a week) to lose 2 pounds of body fat a week.
 
At the retreat most people have a deficit of 1200-2000 calories a day so that would point to a weight loss of approximately 2-3 pound a week.  The reason that people lose so much more is that we are removing the acidity from their diet with no tea and coffee, no alcohol, nomeat, no dairy etc and replacing it with lots of alkaline nutritious items. The body stores fat to break down the acidity, when it no longer has acid items coming in it will start to release fat.
 
That is why we see such good weight loss on every week and on every occasion.
 
2) It is very healthy to lose that much weight, as long as you are doing it with a combination of diet and exercise.  Most people leave here saying they feel the best they have in years and never ever have a complaint wishing they had lost less.
 
3) Most clients lose between 70-80% of theweight in body fat with some water and occasionally some muscle mass. Everyone so worried at losing muscle mass but if it is in proportion to your body then it is not an issue.  If the guests join in all the classes etc. many of them go back with more muscle mass than when they arrived.
