Christmas and New Year have flown and all of a sudden we've landed in 2012 wondering where the last few months have gone. Tired of the cold nights and the depressingly dark mornings, the countdown for longer days is officially on, but believe it or not, we're only 6 weeks away from Spring!
Even though your festive spirit may be worn out and you're longing for some warmer weather, instead of wishing the time away, try to enjoy the last weeks of winter and don't surrender to the January blues!
Start the year as you mean to go on
Use January as a time to re-evalute anything you wish to change about your life. Instead of making rash resolutions that you don't think you'll stick to, really think about what changes you'd like to make and why. If you have a goal or a target, whether it be a career, a weight loss or a relationship issue, use these next few weeks to start the ball rolling and look forward to having a happier year.
Keep snug
Instead of feeling glum when the clock hits 5 o'clock and it's pitch black outside, look forward to going home and getting cosy for the night. There's nothing nicer than having a warm bath and putting your pyjama's on after a long day! January's usually a quiet time with everybody being cash-strapped after Christmas, so use the time wisely and enjoy getting snug for the evening.
Stay in style
As soon as the sun hits (hopefully we'll have sun!) you'll wave bye bye to fur coats, knitted jumpers, comfy uggs and woolly hats. Whatever the weather, there's no denying the winter wardrobe is pretty fabulous, so wrap up warm and bag some good sale bargains while you can!
Family time
It's too cold to play outside so take advantage of the children being indoors and spend some quality family time together. If you have relatives who've visited for Christmas, make the most of spending this time with them.
Sleep!
What better excuse to have early nights tucked up in bed watching tv or long lie-ins on a weekend than miserable weather outside? Exercise is really important to keep you healthy but, during winter, so is getting enough sleep. When the mornings get lighter you'll be wanting to get out of bed so while it's dark and you have no good reason to move, catch up on your sleep.
