Individuals with Alzheimer's are fading at around six months earlier due to the sedatives they are given state experts.

The medicines, called neuroleptics, were connected with a considerable decline in both speech and knowledge, revealed the report by King’s College London for the Alzheimer's Research Trust.

They are prescribed to almost 50% of those with Alzheimer's in nursing homes for behavioural difficulties – for instance anger.

Rebecca Wood, head of the trust is quoted in the Mirror as saying: "The results are deeply troubling."
