It's that time of year where we're all trying to get back into our working habits, meeting deadlines, going for promotions, which for some means sacrificing life outside of work.
Family life
Bringing work home can make you distant to the ones you love. Home should be a place to go to relax and where you can find most comfort.
Set yourself deadlines to get work done during you working hours so when 5pm comes around, you're ready to put the feet up and enjoy the evening.
Catch up with a friend
Friends get us through even the toughest of days and catching up with one or a few at least once a week can help boost your self esteem. If anything is troubling you, they're there. It could be a night out or a night in with a bottle of wine, so long as you can let your hair down and brush away the work stress.
Take a weekend trip
There is always that one week that never seems to improve, but when the weekend comes around, take a nice trip to a spa or the countryside to regain happiness.
Weekend trips are ideal and bank friendly. Take a trip somewhere that is different and new around the country. The Lake District, Bath, Cornwall, Snowdonia, anywhere remote (but not too remote that you get lost!) to take your mind off things.
Weekends are best spent with a loved one, so take a family member or partner along and indulge in relaxation.
As weekend trips are fairly cheap booked in advance, you can take them as often or as little as you please.
A cheeky drink
Too much alcohol is bad for you, however a glass or two of wine will have you relaxing in no time.
A small amount of alcohol won't leave you hungover the next day so it's safe to have a drink during the week. Just make sure you don't get carried away!
Say yes!
Got invited to something fun after work? Do it! Bad days can leave you feeling like everything is against you, so lift your spirits with a nice meal, visit to the pub or just a catch up with friends.
Whether you have been working too hard or didn't finish that piece of work during the day, never feel the need to work overtime unless it is crucial that you do. It's called working 9-5 for a reason, so use your free time to be free.
