Chances are your most probably sitting at your desk whilst reading this and are most probably halfway through your dinner - what a lunch-break?
A new survery has indicated that 60 per cent regularly don't take a lunck-break and one in five couldn't remember the last time they had actually taken one.
The staffbay.com poll asked 1800 people about their current working day and they revealed that more than 50 per cent of people rarely leave work on time - with a quarter saying that they feel lucky if they leave on time a couple of times a month.
Tony Wilmot, founder of staffbay.com says: "Lunch breaks are rapidly becoming a thing of the past with public and private sector organisations making cutbacks, pressure on employees is increasing. Therefore workers feel the need to work longer hours and 'dine al desko' in order to show employers their worth."
But this not only means that you are not getting a proper break from staring at a computer all day long, or stretching your legs, the desk was not designed to be an eating place.
The desk is a feeding area for bacteria, it's 400 times dirtier than your toilet. Think about that next time you go to take a bite out of your sandwich. The phone is the dirtiest, then the desktop, the mouse and the computer then follow - if you insist on eating at your desk, wipe it down daily with anti-bacterial wipes.
