Toshihiro Nagoshi has been named Sega's creative director.
The 'Yakuza' director will step down as the chief creative officer of Sega to become the creative director on April 1, 2021, after joining the video game company in the mid-90s.
The announcement also confirmed the company will be making some more wide-reaching changes in the coming year "to adapt to the external environment".
Sega looking to make its organisational structure more streamlined to allow for quicker decision-making and better communication between departments.
Meanwhile, Nagoshi previously admitted that whilst the Nintendo Switch is designed for a range of age groups, the company mainly designed their consoles for children and teenagers.
In a recent video by Sega Europe to celebrate the esteemed company’s 60th anniversary, he said: “I think even now the Nintendo platform is still a game console that is played by a wide range of age groups, but basically, I think it’s hardware for kids and teens. Amid all that, at that time, Nintendo was also putting a lot of effort into the kids market, and I thought it would suit.”
