Will Ferrell is set to star in a new movie about gaming.
The 49-year-old comic actor has been cast in a forthcoming production yet to be named, which will see the American star play the role of a professional gamer, and the news has been confirmed by the production company Legendary.
The script will be penned by the WaitListComedy founder Jordan Dunn, and could see esport organisations, including Evil Geniuses and Fnatic feature in the production, although it has yet to be confirmed.
However, further details, including the movie's director, Ferrell's co-stars and a release date have been kept under wraps.
The 'Anchorman' star's new role has been likened to his 'Talladega Nights' character Ricky Bobby, and it is believed his collaboration with a gaming charity in 2014.
A clip of the movie, which has been obtained by Gamespot.com, sees Ferrell glued to a screen surrounded by fizzy drinks and take away containers, whilst intently playing a game.
Speaking in the short video, which has a banner purposefully misspelling Will's surname as "Pharrell", the funnyman said: "I am Will Pharrell. I am here to issue a challenge. See, back in the day I was quite a video game whizz. I once played Asteroids for 37 hours straight without taking a bathroom break. I went to the bathroom, I just didn't take a break."
