The 'Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - The Official Video Game' will be released on June 22.
The Sega title to accompany the sporting event saw it's release delayed as the Olympics were delayed until July 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, although some copies did find there way to retailers in Japan for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4
Xbox owners and players in other regions around the world have had to wait patiently for the title and they will now be able to get their hands on the sport-fest one month before the games take place.
'Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game' will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch simultaneously and gamers will be to compete as one of 80 nations across 18 different sporting disciplines.
The sports on offer include 100m sprint, 110m hurdles, long jump, swimming, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, cycling, BMX, soccer, hammer throw, 100m freestyle swimming, table tennis and regular tennis are all in the mix.
The Japanese edition saw the 4x100m relay, judo, rugby sevens and climbing added in post-launch updates, however, these bonus events are expected to be available at launch when the game reaches a worldwide audience.
